In conclusion, OCT-A vessel density measurements are significantly associated with the severity of visual field damage. These associations are generally stronger than standard structural measures such as RNFL and rim area.
Moreover, OCT-A vessel density measurements are still significantly associated with the severity of visual field loss even after adjusting for standard structural measurements.
For these reasons, OCT-A is a promising technology that will allow clinical monitoring of vascular changes in glaucoma, and it could potentially enhance our understanding of the pathophysiology of the disease, specifically its underlying vascular mechanism.
